CapyBar is a native macOS menu bar utility for monitoring CPU, memory, thermal pressure, disk, network, and battery activity.

Getting started

After opening CapyBar, look for the capybara icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen. CapyBar does not appear in the Dock.

Click the capybara to open the dashboard. Select Settings at the bottom of the dashboard to customize metrics, colors, thresholds, menu bar content, and Launch at Login.

Why is CapyBar not in the Dock?

CapyBar is a menu bar utility. Click the capybara icon at the top of the screen to use it.

Why is a metric missing?

CapyBar only displays metrics available on your Mac. Battery information, for example, is not available on desktop Macs.

Does CapyBar upload my system information?

No. All metrics are processed locally and stay on your Mac.

How do I change the colors or thresholds?

Open the dashboard, select Settings, then choose a metric. You can adjust its warning and critical thresholds and choose the colors used for each status.

How do I make CapyBar open automatically?

Open Settings and enable Launch at Login. macOS may ask you to confirm the login item in System Settings.

How do I update the Mac App Store version?

Updates are delivered through the Mac App Store.
